Dr. Fickle or: How I Learned Live Preview and Love Twidroyd Pro

Many of you know (especially @splenitis) that I’m fickle about my Twitter apps. I finally settled down with Tweetings app on iPhone, but got rid of my iPhone and switched to HTC EVO (Android). There aren’t many Twitter apps on Android compared to the number of apps on iPhone.  However, two apps on Android are doing things that iPhone apps either can’t do or aren’t doing at this time. Touiteur app has been my favorite because it requires less effort to reply to tweets, customer service is great, and it provides open beta builds for those that like to help improve it. Touiteur might still hang on to win my favor, but Twidroyd Pro came out with an update yesterday that opened my eyes to “Live Preview.”It’s easier to explain Live Preview through pictures. The first two pictures of the attached gallery shows a tweet in the timeline about lost replies on Twitter and it displays a link. By pressing and holding the tweet it brings up Live Preview which is displayed in the second pic. Notice it shows the original tweet text at the top and below it allows you to read the contents of the link within the tweet view! The third pic shows the Twidroyd Pro widget. In my opinion, it’s better than the Touiteur widget because all I want from a widget is the “open app” button and “compose” area. The “search” button is fine, but I rarely use it. The fourth pic displays the pop-up menu window within Twidroyd Pro.If you use an Android device, I highly recommend you try Twidroyd Pro AND Touiteur Premium apps and decide which of the two you prefer. Let me know what you think in the comments section below.
